Not Your Average Pacific Crest Trail Gear List

Okay, I lied. This is pretty much your typical PCT Gear list. But everyone loves a gear list, right?

Les trois grands

Pack: G4-20 Ultralight 42 Backpack
Tent: Six Moon Designs Lunar Solo (Backpacking Tent)

At first I was planning on using the stakes included with the Lunar Solo, but after breaking two on a section hike of the Arizona Trail, I decided to swap them out for MSR Mini Groundhog Stakes (and will be carrying a few extra!) The tent is a trekking pole tent, so I will be carrying the REI Co-op Flash Carbon Trekking Poles

Sleep System: Enlightened Equipment Enigma Quilt (10 degrees), Sea to Summit Aeros Premium Pillow, and the Therm-a-Rest NeoAir XLite

Even though its a 10 degree quilt, I am a cold sleeper and will probably add a sleeping bag liner before hitting the Sierras

Cooking and Hydration

Stove: BRS Ultralight Backpacking Titanium BRS 3000T

Utensils: Toaks 650 mL Titanium Pot and Toaks Titanium Folding Spork

I’ll also be adding the Sea-to-Summit XMug before the PCT because I want the ability to drink hot beverages while I wait for my dinner to cook

For Kitchen Chores: GSI Outdoors Compact Scraper and a generic bandana

My hiking partner on the Arizona Trail had one of these scrapers and his pot was gorgeously clean after each meal while my hot chocolate had some mac and cheese chunks.

Water Filter: Sawyer Squeeze Water Filter System

After struggling to fill up the Sawyer water bladders, I’ll be swapping them out for the Cnoc Vecto 2L Water Bladder, which has the ability to be filled from the wide mouthed top instead of only from the narrow opening at the top. I’ll also be adding two of the Cnoc Vesica 1 L Collapsible Bottles as a reusable alternative to Smart Water bottles and a lighter option than a Nalgene bottle.
