I have a lot to say about my gear, and my philosophies behind why I choose it too, so you’ve been warned. Buckle up, folks, this is going to be a deep dive, and I’m about to start yapping.

In the Past…
Before hiking my first long trail, the Pacific Crest Trail, I definitely described myself as a “lightweight, but not ultralight hiker.” I started the PCT with a fully framed pack, a mummy sleeping bag, and a bunch of extra clothes. The latter were some of the first things I let go of on my way up to Canada.
